Some information for people staying in Jussieu appartments INTERNET There is no wifi in the appartment, internet is via an Ethernet cable (which is provided). Do not forget to bring an adapter if needed (for instance if you have a Mac). KEYS In order to pick up the keys, sign your contract and give your deposit, you need to make an appointment with Mr Di Bisceglie (the easiest is by email). The appointment has to take place during office hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30am - 12:30pm and 1:30pm - 4pm. The address of his office is: 7 rue des Fossés Saint Bernard, 75005 Paris. Closest metro stops are Jussieu and Cardinal Lemoine. Do bring a cell phone: the intercom does not work, you will need to call him so that he opens the metal gate for you. Preferably call him on the mobile phone as he is moving around (+33 6 74 73 49 20, or 06 74 73 49 20). LAUNDRY The sheets and towels are changed every Wednesday. Please leave them on the floor at the entrance of your flat (inside the flat). ACCESS The easiest way to get to your appartement is through 7 rue des Fossés Saint Bernard. You can also reach it by crossing the university campus, this takes a little bit of exploration, but is doable. NEARBY STORES There are two supermarkets Carrefour nearby, one on "rue Jussieu" and the other one on "rue Monge". To get there, take rue des Fossés Saint Bernard: the 1st Carrefour is on the left at the first crossing, and the second one on the left at the second crossing. Some Monoprix stores also have food. For instance the one on Boulevard Saint Michel, which is open 7/7. Picard deals with frozen food. There is one near the Seine, just opposite the main entrance of your residence. Butchers, fish stores, bakeries and fruit stores on rue Monge, South of the supermarket Carrefour. Also, further South, on Place Monge, there is an open air market on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday mornings, till 1pm or a little later. GARBAGE In the ground floor, there is a room for the trashcans (= poubelles). Garbage is sorted. The can with a yellow lid is for (clean) papers and cardboard, some plastic things (bottles) and metal cans. The can with a white lid is for glass bottles and containers (but no lightbulbs or glassware). The can with a green lid is for everything else. The yellow and white trashcans usually have stickers which describe what goes in them. Batteries and lightbulbs must be returned to hardware stores or to disposal bins in some supermarkets.
